・教育期間は20カ月が望ましいが、短縮や延長が可能である。
・ロンドンのthe Royal College of Surgeonsで6カ月毎に3日の“Study Days”が設けられている。1999年6月26日(2日間)、1999年11月27日(1日間)。
Final FDSの試験は午前午後それぞれ3時間の筆記試験があります。以下はSurgical Dentistry(歯科外科)の試験問題です。

Candidate are informwed that one of the Examiners is present during part of the allowed for the paper for consultation in case any question should not appear clear.
1. How may the inflammatory process help or hinder the dental surgeons?
2. Discuss genetic disorders of particular relevance when:
a. considering the extraction of a tooth
b. preparing for the administration of a general anaesthetic
3. Classify the epithelial lined cysts which may occur in the jaws. Describe their radiographic and pathological features.
4. Discuss the oral and dental implications of hepatic disease.

3. Discuss the investigations available for temporomandibular joint disorder. Relate the investigations to specific joint pathology.
4. Discuss the use of adhensive materials in paediatric dentistry.
5. Describe your management of a 14 year old patient presenting with oral ulceration.
6. How can systemic disease influence the development and morphology of teeth?
7. What complications may arise in relation to restorative dentistry following radiotherapy to the head and neck region. How may these be prevented or treated?
8. Discuss the opinions for the replacement of an upper lateral incisor in an otherwise intact dentition.
9. What is the prognostic significance of alveolar bone loss at the furcation of a multirooted tooth. Discuss the treatment options for suchfurcation involvements.
10. What is meant by evidence based dentistry?
11. Discuss the planning of dental services for old people. What factors would you take into account?
