・学習を手助けする個人的な教師のようなworkbookが与えられ、読むべき本のリストも渡される。
・教育期間は20カ月が望ましいが、短縮や延長が可能である。
・ロンドンのthe Royal College of Surgeonsで6カ月毎に3日の“Study Days”が設けられている。1999年6月26日（2日間）、1999年11月27日（1日間）。
