前述した従来の専門医資格コースが新しくシステム化されようとしていますので、それについて述べます。 　1999年の“The Dentists Register for 1999”をみますと、Specialist lists in Distinctive Branches of Dentistry 1999に専門医として登録されている歯科医師は568名です。歯科医師の中では専門医は 1.896% (568/29951)にすぎません。専門医資格修得は極めて難しい状況にあるようです。
